Book appointmentIn addition to ‘classic’ acupuncture, complementary treatment methods are used depending on the indications:
Electroacupuncture
Electro-acupuncture is particularly suitable for relieving acute or chronic pain. The acupuncture needles are additionally stimulated with a small electric current and connected to each other with fine cables. A slight tingling and tapping sensation can be felt in the treated areas. The light electrical impulses support and strengthen the effect of acupuncture, thereby achieving transmission into deeper tissues.
Ear acupuncture
There are around 150 acupuncture points close together in the auricle, each of which is assigned to a specific area of the body (e.g. shoulder, back, etc.) or a specific organ (e.g. heart, lungs, kidneys, etc.). Stimulation of the ear acupuncture points influences and stimulates the function of the corresponding areas, with the aim of dissolving energy blockages in the long term.
For ear acupuncture, your NUWA specialists stick individual seeds of cow herb (Vaccaria hispanica or Wang Bu Liu Xing in Chinese) with a small plaster precisely on selected acupuncture points on the ear according to your individual symptoms and complaints. We recommend massaging the points briefly three times a day for three to five days in order to achieve regular stimulation. You can remove the granular plasters yourself on the fifth day at the latest. The plasters can come into contact with water without any problems.
Ear acupuncture is particularly successful in relieving pain of all kinds, in the treatment of chronic illnesses such as asthma and gastritis and as a supportive therapy for giving up smoking.
Moxibustion and acupuncture
In moxibustion, acupuncture points are additionally stimulated by heat. The heat is generated by burning dried mugwort for a long time, which is held in stick form against an acupuncture needle. The heat is transferred along the acupuncture needles into the body tissue. This achieves additional stimulation of the acupuncture points. Moxibustion has a toning effect on the treated areas by promoting blood circulation and purification.
